Increasing asphalt paving safety while also improving job-site productivity, the Road Runner remote dump system eliminates the need for spotters and signalmen. This revolutionary patent pending system allows the truck driver to remotely share dump and tailgate operation functions with the paver operator.
The truck driver simply backs the truck up to the paver and engages the PTO. Once the PTO is engaged, the remote control is automatically activated. The paver operator can now raise and lower the dump body as needed with the push of a button, as well as open and close the tailgate. Once the truck is empty, the truck operator disconnects from the remote by disengaging the PTO. The process starts over again for an absolutely seamless transition from truck to truck.
One remote operates an entire fleet of trucks, and can easily operate multiple fleets without reprogramming or switching the remote. This boosts safety and productivity on the site in many ways. It eliminates the spotter from a dangerous position between equipment and traffic. It reduces signal lag time and eliminates miscommunication between the paver operator and truck driver. This will also eliminate accidental dumps outside of the paver hopper.
The truck driver can now keep eyes forward with hands on the wheel for obstacles and safety. In the event of an obstacle or safety concern, the truck driver maintains primary control of the truck and can quickly disable the remote by simply disengaging the PTO and/or lowering the body. The remote will only connect to the closest dump truck to the paver with the PTO engaged. The remote control with its safely encrypted signal will operate for 30-40 hours of continuous use on a single charge and is easily recharged with a standard mini USB phone charger.
